Job Description:

Adjunct (part-time) instructors are hired on an as-needed, term-by-term (or per course) basis. By applying for this position, you will be joining the part-time instructional pool for consideration as a prospective adjunct instructor.

The Adjunct Instructor is directly accountable to the Department Chair for the following duties and responsibilities.

The individual filling this position is expected to play a positive role in helping the College change as necessary to effectively carryout its mission.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Provide classroom/laboratory instruction in accordance the Hospitality & Tourism Management and Culinary Management curriculum.
• Fulfill contractual obligations during the term.
• Conduct each class according to the approved syllabus.
• Utilize the approved textbook and/or other instructional materials as approved.
• Be fully prepared and on time.
• Utilize LMS following college policies and procedures.
• Submit attendance confirmation per college policies and procedures.
• Maintain course grades in LMS and submit grades at the applicable times.
• Support students by engaging them in class, answering questions in a timely manner, and referring them for additional support when necessary.
• Be familiar with and abide by college policies.
• Treat students and colleagues with respect and understanding of differences.
• Assist in development of curriculum as appropriate.
• Complete annual mandatory compliance training.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the department supervisor.

Requirements:

• Master's in hospitality, tourism, culinary, event management, marketing, management or a related field
  • OR Other Master's and 18 graduate hours in hospitality, tourism, culinary, event management, marketing, management or a related field
  • OR Bachelor's or higher degree with at least five (5) years in-field work experience relevant to the course being taught
  • OR Culinary Chef Certificate from an accredited institution or Associates degree in Culinary and at least eight (8) years in-filed experience relevant to the course being taught
• Demonstrated evidence of professional growth through participation in continuing education and other related activities.
• Proficiency with teaching technologies, including lecture-capture software, such as Camtasia or Kaltura, and familiarity with web-conferencing software to facilitate synchronous online student support preferred.
• Experience in student engagement techniques preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills required.

*All degrees must be from a regionally accredited postsecondary institution.

Rate of Pay: $1800 to $2214 per class (Based on level of degree. Pay rate listed is for a 3 hour credit course.) Rate of pay for online courses varies $25.00-$150.00 per hour.

Location: All Campuses; Includes Online
