Job Responsibilities
The Kent County 17th Circuit Court is seeking a Collections Clerk II to work within the Finance Division. The successful candidate, under limited supervision, will run the Order to Show Cause Hearing process and represent the Court at hearings, establish accounts, determine appropriate charges or fees, post transactions, and prepare typewritten documents for the Court. The position will be responsible for an assigned section of the alphabet, selecting and issuing bench warrants for non-payment of court fines, fees, and costs. This position will also review and establish defendant payment schedules for fees ordered by the court, as well as assist at the front window with minimal support for probation officers and the personal protection department.

Additional responsibilities include ensuring accurate and updated defendant account information in the system, along with performing a wide range of bookkeeping duties related to the proper initiation, payment processing, collection, and maintenance of defendant accounts.

Minimum Qualifications
Associate degree or sixty (60) semester credit hours in Accounting, Finance or closely related field combined with two (2) years' experience in bookkeeping and general accounting or an equivalent combination of post-secondary training and experience in accounting and bookkeeping.

Minimum of two (2) years' collections experience.

Ability to interact positively with individuals from widely diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Working knowledge of bookkeeping principles, methods, and practices and knowledge of federal and state statutes governing the accessibility and confidentiality of individual information and the legal parameters governing the collection and verification of client data is required.
