Job Overview:

The Food Manager oversees and supports the operation ofa large food service program, ensuring all food preparation, storage, and service activities meet State and Federal requirements for nutrition, sanitation, and safety. This role is responsible for training and guiding kitchen staff, participating in menu planning, monitoring compliance with health regulations, maintaining records, and supporting operational efficiency. The Food Manager works closely with the Nutrition Manager and Supervisors to maintain high standards across all food service functions.

  • Full-Time Onsite

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all food is stored, prepared, and served according to sanitary standards outlined in the Food Hygiene Rule (Chapter 64E-11, Florida Administrative Code).
  • Assist in developing master menus to meet State and Federal nutrition regulations and ensure dietary balance.
  • Support the review of food service budgets and evaluate financial and operating reports.
  • Train kitchen staff in food handling, record-keeping, ordering procedures, equipment usage, and sanitation/safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with Supervisors to resolve food quality issues, coordinate meal schedules, and ensure operational compliance.
  • Supervise and participate directly in food preparation as needed.
  • Prepare and review food service records, including timesheets, operating reports, inventory logs, and cost control documents.
  • Perform inventory management duties under the direction of the supervisor.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Qualification:

  • Ability to perform medium to heavy physical work such as standing, walking, stooping, lifting, and pushing.
  • Regularly exert 20-50 lbs of force; occasionally exert 50-100 lbs of force.
  • Lift to 25 lbs on a routine basis.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in food preparation, handling, storage, or kitchen sanitation-preferably in a large-scale food preparation environment.
  • Must hold and maintain a current Florida Food Manager Certification (or equivalent).
  • Certification must be submitted within three (3) business days of the County's request.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
