The Leidos Innovations Center (LInC) is seeking a Chief Engineer for Hypersonic Technologies to lead our initiatives in air-breathing missile systems. The selected candidate will provide technical leadership within Leidos and the Department of Defense to capture and execute innovative missile system design programs.

The Chief Engineer will be responsible for developing and executing concepts for high-speed weapon systems, guiding projects from concept development through prototyping. You will focus on advancing modeling, simulation, and analysis techniques as part of our research and development efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Drive the development of new missile system concepts, enhancing our air-breathing propulsion systems within novel missile systems.
  2. Advance the Concept Development business by progressing from ideas to prototype development.
  3. Establish and create robust modeling, simulation, and analysis capabilities through client contracts and internal research.
  4. Refine air-breathing vehicle concepts and modeling programs to prepare compelling proposals for multiple opportunities within a year.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Master's or Ph.D. degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or a related field with over 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Expert knowledge in advanced technologies, particularly in air-breathing propulsion, hypersonics, aerothermodynamics, and systems engineering.
  • Ability to operate independently and demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with an existing Secret clearance; active TS clearance is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience managing DOD research efforts, particularly with agencies like AFRL, DARPA, or ONR.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects while adhering to timelines and budget constraints.
  • Business development experience, including leading successful campaigns and managing customer relationships.
